Krasner defeats Dugan; Poised for third term as Philly DA
Incumbent Larry Krasner turned back a challenge from former Municipal Court judge Pat Dugan to secure the Democratic nomination for District Attorney in the city of Philadelphia.
With more than 99 percent of the precincts reporting, Krasner leads his opponent, 64-36 percent, with a 42,000-vote advantage.
With no Republican filed to run for the office, it clears the path for Krasner to win a third term in November. The Philadelphia GOP was encouraging its voters to write in Dugan in an effort to arrange a rematch in the fall, but Dugan’s campaign has said he would decline such an opportunity.
