Guy Ciarrocchi: A viewers’ guide to the debate
Debate Night in Philadelphia. While the Harris/Walz campaign — and the legacy media — want to present this as debate number one, never forget this is debate number two for President Trump against the Biden/Harris administration. Kamala Harris has been Vice President for every single day of the Biden presidency, helping to shape, advocate, and defend every single decision.
She is the Border Czar, so she owns that failure even more than Biden. And when it comes to the humiliating, deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan, never forget Harris told us she was “the last person in the room” with Biden before their plan was launched.
It’s actually worse: Harris has spent the last several months — maybe years — lying to us about Biden’s mental and physical health. In fact, question number one should be this:
“Do you truly believe that President Biden is mentally and physically fit to be President? And, to the extent he is limited; will you apologize to the American public for putting your personal ambition ahead of national interest by misleading us?”
Because it’s debate number two, every single criticism and concern about the Biden record stands — even more so — for Kamala Harris. Since the first debate, the economy is weaker, more illegal immigrants have come into America, and Hamas has killed an American hostage.
When it comes to the economy, the Biden/Harris Department of Labor has been forced to revise the jobs numbers for the year. We now know there are at least 1.2 million fewer Americans working than Biden/Harris originally told us.
“Your Department of Labor has had to correct the jobs numbers almost every month this year: Why are the mistakes always stating far more jobs being created than there really are? And, is it time to admit that the economy is much weaker than you’ve been saying?”
Each time she cites a statistic to deceive us about the economy — despite what we can see with our own eyes, at our workplaces and in our own grocery bills, maybe we should consider that the stats are misleading, at best.
Each time she tries to tell us that inflation is “coming down,” remember the truth: the rate at which prices are rising is slowing down. So, our groceries are costing more each week — just not as fast as they used to be. “Yippee!”
Each time she tries to argue that the Biden/Harris administration didn’t cause the inflation we are dealing with because of their Covid policies, wasteful spending, and anti-American energy policies, but rather it’s grocery store greed, remember: even CNN reported she’s wrong.
Each time she tries to tell us that she finally has a plan to bring down inflation, remember that even the liberal Washington Post editorialized that inflation is a “serious” problem and Harris is offering a “gimmick,” an “outlandish plan” with many “misguided ideas.”
“You’ve spent most of 2024 telling voters that inflation was under control, yet you now acknowledge it’s a genuine problem. Your first policy speech — your only policy speech to date — was ridiculed by economists and the Washington Post. How are you going to bring down inflation — and why should we believe that you now have a plan?”
Each time she promises to secure the border in 2025, remember that she’s been the Border Czar. This was her one specific job. During the Biden/Harris administration approximately ten million illegal, undocumented people have come here from 151 nations. Some have committed repeated crimes. Some have no known background. Their own Justice Department warns us that some could be terrorists.
“You were appointed Border Czar by President Biden. During your administration over ten million people have crossed the southern border — Senator John Fetterman describes it as a whole Pittsburgh coming into America each month. You’ve allowed these people to come in here, your party has twice voted against prohibiting non-citizens from voting, and Democrat Senate Leader Schumer says he will work to grant them asylum. Why should Americans believe that you would secure the border, and remove lawbreakers from our nation?”
And, the flip-flops. At least nine major ones so far–that we are aware of: fracking, defunding the police, mandating electric cars, banning plastic straws, and tax policy “changes.”
“As California’s Attorney General, a United States Senator and Vice President, and having run for President in 2020, you’ve stated policy positions and cast votes for years. During this brief campaign, several of your campaign aides have been posting on social media that your long held positions are no longer your positions. Can you clarify on which positions you have, in fact, changed your mind? And, will you commit to offer future policy flip-flops personally and not through unknown and unaccountable aides?”
Harris selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. He has a pattern of misleading voters about his record — from his military rank, to hsi combat service, and even awards. His decisions during Covid were among the most strict and intrusive in the nation—including having a tattletale hotline and having the National Guard shoot paint balls when people were congregating outside. And he waited three days — allowing Minneapolis to burn — before he called in the national guard to stop the riots that summer.
“Your running mate, Tim Walz has a history of misleading voters on his military record. What do you say to the men and women in our military who have actually served in combat?
Do you have any disagreements with his conduct during Covid?
Do you and Governor Walz have any regrets for your decisions during the riots of 2020 – including his delay in calling in the National Guard and your raising money to bailout those arrested for committing crimes?
As the debate begins, ask yourself: If things are great, why does she need to fix them? If she knows how to fix them, why do we have to wait until 2025? Why is this the first — and hopefully not the last — opportunity to see and hear her answer questions on policies, her record, and her flip-flops?
(Why no Trump questions? We saw his record on the economy, jobs, the border, national security, and energy independence. Plus, Trump and Vance have done 38 interviews and counting.)
Last question: “Does Kamala Harris deserve to be re-elected?
