The latest installment of our series of interviews with school director candidates across Pennsylvania brings us to the Upper Perkiomen School District.

Sarah Bieber is running for school director in the Upper Perkiomen School District, located in Montgomery County. She is a member of the Republican Party and a mother.

Why are you running for school board?

“As a mother of two boys currently in grade school, I am running for school board to help and assist the Upper Perkiomen School District to return to the Blue Ribbon School it was when I graduated in 1999.”

What are the most important issues facing your district?

“I believe academics, at their core, should be the main issue. In the Upper Perkiomen School District in 2022, according to the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) data, 25 percent of all fourth grade students were below basic proficiency in math.”

What is your professional background/experience? What skills would you bring to the board?

“I am the mother of two private school boys, one in elementary school and one in high school. I have volunteered with children’s charities. I have volunteered with nursery and elementary-aged children through vacation Bible school.”

Have you run for political office previously? Have you been politically active?

“No, I have not previously run for political office or been politically active.”

Are you running with other candidates?

“Yes. I am running with Mike Long, Liz Fluckey, Trina Schaarschmidt, and John Gehman. You can learn more about our campaign on our website.”

What is the most important role of the school board, in your opinion?

“In my opinion, the most important role of the school board is to provide quality education to all students. The board must review and analyze the curriculum for all students’ future successes and set visions and goals in areas such as policies, hiring, budgeting, and managing.”

We contacted the Democratic and Republican committees in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, and Montgomery counties and asked them to share the questions with their school director candidates. Broad + Liberty will post the responses throughout the summer to assist voters in learning about the candidates running in their district. The series is open to any school director on the ballot in November. Please contact barosica@broadandliberty.com for more information.

  1. You know you guys may as well stop clarifying what party these candidates belong to?

We all know the only party you shill for. You’re not actually fooling anyone into thinking you’d ever do these softball promo interviews for anyone who isn’t a politically approved loyalist to The Party.
