Garrity consolidates PA GOP leaders around gubernatorial campaign

Wasting little time, Pennsylvania State Treasurer Stacy Garrity has begun consolidating the leadership of the Pennsylvania Republican Party around her nascent campaign.

The 61-year-old Garrity, who won a second term as State Treasurer last November, announced her candidacy for governor last Monday and has already received the backing of Republican leaders in both chambers of the state’s General Assembly.

“I’m incredibly honored to have the support of Republican leaders in the Pennsylvania General Assembly,” she said. “Their endorsement means a great deal, and I’m grateful for their confidence in my record and vision for our Commonwealth. As State Treasurer, I’ve worked every day to protect taxpayer dollars and fight for fiscal responsibility and as Governor, I will bring that same focus and determination.”

Garrity also picked up unanimous endorsements from both the PA GOP southwest and central caucuses during straw votes last weekend.

The top two Republicans in the GOP-controlled state Senate offered their endorsements.

“Next year’s race for governor could not have higher stakes for Pennsylvania. We need a governor who will fight for taxpayers, grow our economy, and serve the people instead of themselves,” said Senate President Pro Tempore Kim Ward (R-Westmoreland). “Stacy Garrity has proven that she can be that governor. Whether serving our nation in uniform, having a successful career in the private sector, or serving as State Treasurer, Stacy has always fought the good fight for the people she serves. Her record-breaking electoral success last year should tell everyone that Stacy is the best candidate to beat Josh Shapiro next year.

Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman (R-Armstrong/Indiana/Jefferson/ Westmoreland) wants a candidate who can “restore sanity in Harrisburg.”

“As Majority Leader of the Pennsylvania Senate, I understand what Pennsylvanians want in a Governor: leadership grounded in principle, fiscal responsibility, and commitment to doing what is in the best interest of the people you serve,” said Pittman. My friend Stacy Garrity demonstrates all of this and more. From her service to our nation on the battlefields of Iraq to serving as our state’s top fiscal watchdog, I am confident Stacy Garrity will beat Josh Shapiro and serve as a Governor for all Pennsylvanians.”

As the PA GOP looks to win back the state House in 2026, Republican Leader Rep. Jesse Topper (R-Bedford/Fulton) wants a leader who has “the courage to do what is right and the strength to see it through.”

“Stacy is one of those people,” said Topper. “The people of Pennsylvania need principled, strong leadership now more than ever. Stacy is tough, disciplined, and has shown that she can win. “We need leaders who have the courage to do what is right and the strength to see it through. Stacy is one of those people. I look forward to working with her to ensure success next year from the top to the bottom of the ballot.”

Garrity, a Bradford County native, also has the support of Philadelphia Republicans.

“As a proud daughter of Northeast Philly, I know a fighter when I see one,” said Rep. Martina White (R-Philadelphia). “Stacy Garrity has spent her career fighting for the people she serves. Whether fighting for our country overseas in Iraq, fighting to keep jobs in the United States throughout her career in business, or fighting for taxpayers as Pennsylvania’s top fiscal watchdog, Stacy has always taken on the tough fights. Stacy is the fighter that Pennsylvanians need.”

Both Appropriations Committee chairs are also throwing their support behind Garrity.

“Pennsylvanians are tired of politics as usual,” said Sen. Scott Martin (R-Lancaster/Berks), majority chair of the Senate committee. “That’s why I’m endorsing Stacy Garrity’s campaign for governor. “She’s a proven leader who served our country in uniform, had a successful career in business, and has given more than $1 billion back to taxpayers as State Treasurer. She is the only candidate that can inspire voters, build a winning coalition, and lead this Commonwealth towards prosperity.”

“As Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, I know how important fiscal discipline is to taxpayers and our Commonwealth’s future,” said Rep. Jim Struzzi (R-Indiana). “Pennsylvania families deserve a Governor who respects every dollar that is sent to Harrisburg. Stacy Garrity personifies this discipline. She has served the people of Pennsylvania well as the Commonwealth’s top fiscal watchdog and has earned the trust of Pennsylvanians everywhere. She’s got what it takes to end the charade of the Shapiro Administration.”
