Harris wins endorsement of Pennsylvania Democratic Party

It’s a clean sweep for Vice President Kamala Harris.

Earlier on Monday, the Executive Committee of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party unanimously endorsed Harris as the party’s candidate for President of the United States.

The Executive Committee’s decision came following a poll of the Pennsylvania County Democratic chairs, as well as the Regional Caucus chairs, who also gave the vice president their unanimous endorsement.

Combined with the backing of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and U.S. Senators Bob Casey Jr. and John Fetterman, the Keystone State Democrats appear to be onboard with Harris taking the top of the ticket.

The state’s 159 delegates were committed to President Joe Biden. They voted at a virtual meeting Monday afternoon to redirect their votes to Harris.

In a statement, the York County Democrats said “The endorsements serve as a strong message of unification behind a candidate who has helped to shape this current administration’s policy and will continue to fight for all Americans as the next President.”

The Democratic National Convention will be held Aug. 19-22 in Chicago.
