Andy Bloom: Another fine mess

When the news hit Sunday afternoon that President Joe Biden was leaving the campaign, the phrase that came to mind was from the long-ago comedy duo of Laurel and Hardy, “Well, this is another fine mess.”

What a mess! And I mean that on both sides.

The Democrats’ story boils down to a bait-and-switch con game consisting of a cover-up, coup, and coronation.

The party telling us that it “needs to save democracy” just spent the past four years covering up Biden’s infirmities with the aid of a compliant media.

After the June 27 debate, every rational person knew that Biden’s campaign was finished.

Everybody except Biden, who in fairness demonstrated he isn’t of a rational mind, and insisted it was just a bad night – a combination of a cold and his travel to Europe (from which he had returned twelve days earlier).

His press flack, Karine Jean-Pierre, dutifully marched out day after day, continuing the hoax, and Biden insisted he was staying in the campaign.

Behind the scenes, Brutus, Judas, and Benedict Arnold (or their modern analogues: Obama, Pelosi, and Schumer) plotted the coup against their beloved president. They may have even given him Covid. Well, he caught it somewhere.

Caesar was warned, “Beware of the Ides of March.” July, named in his honor, witnessed 21 days of treachery that marked the end of Biden’s campaign.

The dam burst across the country, with Democrats demanding he step aside as the nominee. “Pass the torch,” they cried. The din grew into a crescendo on Capitol Hill. Donors bailed, and the bottom dropped out of fundraising.

With no money, no friends, and a Covid infection, Biden retreated to his Rehoboth, Delaware, beach home to isolate and reflect. With polls continuing to drop, suggesting that he would lose and take Congress with him, Biden finally read the writing on the wall.

Without fanfare, Biden released a letter on X (still known to most as Twitter) announcing he would “stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.” No media. No photo. No further explanation.

Without intending to start any conspiracy theories, we don’t know if the “Almighty” spoke to him, took him, or what happened during the Weekend at Joe’s. There have been no sightings.

Whatever it was, it worked. Suddenly, everybody loves Joe again. He may be popular enough to win. His decision was called “patriotic and selfless.” It’s such a con game.

What Biden did created this mess and was extremely selfish. In 2020, Biden ran as a “bridge” and “transition” candidate. He implied (without explicitly stating) that he would be a one-term president. It would have been selfless if he had made good on those promises and made the decision following the 2022 mid-terms.

Even then, announcing he wasn’t running would have allowed the party to go through the primary process and vetting of candidates. Perhaps find one that would beat Trump.

Democrats weren’t permitted to challenge “King Joe.” The Party and the full weight of the White House punished and terrified anyone, even considering a primary challenge.

RFK Jr. was bullied until he left the Democratic Party and is running as an independent. Now, the party that it “needs to save democracy” is challenging RFK’s ballot access in numerous states.

Biden’s primary opponents were author Marianne Williamson and backbench Minnesota Congressman Dean Phillips, who managed to win four of the 4,000 delegates in the primary. “Uncommitted” got 36. Williamson zero.

Biden won the nomination with 3,896 delegates. He pointed out, right up until Covid felled him, that he received 14 million votes in the primaries – which is true. He won those primaries kind of the way Vladimir Putin wins elections in Russia. Williamson and Phillips weren’t even permitted to appear on the ballot in states including Massachusetts, North Carolina, and Florida (where the primary was canceled) by the Party that says it “needs to save democracy.”

Biden anointed VP Kamala Harris as the Democrat’s candidate. It’s the next phase of the con: “The coronation.” The bait and switch was made, and Democrats are eating it up, but they call Trump’s followers cultists. Somebody will be put up as token competition, but anybody claiming there will be an open process or convention is part of the con (Brutus?). Short of a force majeure, it’s 99.99 percent certain.

  • The Biden-Harris campaign, now officially Harris for President, has nearly $100 million cash on hand. No other candidate can access that money.
  • No other candidate has a campaign infrastructure.
  • No other candidate has the name recognition.
  • The true competitors (co-conspirators in the coup) hope she loses and will keep their powder dry for 2028.
  • No telegenic white male wants to take on the first Black-Asian woman and fracture the Party for the next generation.
  • She’s the sitting VP – and stupidly, many Republicans are working to make her the sitting president.

The only Democrat to even suggest they might challenge Harris is retiring West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin – 77 years old and the most conservative member of the Democratic Caucus. The party is running in the opposite direction.

The party that it “needs to save democracy” will anoint its candidate who has NEVER received even ONE primary vote for president. It’s a con game.

After four years of hearing that being the oldest president doesn’t mean anything, now all Democrats will note in their talking points that Trump would be the oldest president.

A week ago, the message was “cool the rhetoric.” Today, it’s back to hammering Trump personally. Suddenly, the border problem and inflation were because Biden WAS old. Stunning! The levels of hypocrisy and grift are stunning even by Washington standards.

Democrats are excited and motivated again, which means there’s a fight. They’ve forgotten how dysfunctional Harris’s office has been since her election. They believe young people are back without considering the impact of Harris’s pro-Hamas views on other demographics. They don’t think immigration matters, just abortion – which Trump and Vance must prepare for.

Trump and Republicans need to be careful what they wish for. They’re a little too happy they knocked out Biden. Be careful what you wish for. Stop pushing for Biden to resign. It makes Harris the incumbent, letting voters picture her as president. It elevates her to the same level as Trump.

Trump missed bigly when he gave his acceptance speech on the final night of the RNC. He blew the opportunity to deliver the knockout punch. He did well for nearly 30 minutes. At the 45-minute mark, one of his senior campaign advisors should have dropped the balloons and cued the band. Ninety-three minutes shows a lack of discipline and is a reminder that the Biden campaign did Trump a favor by having the debate with no studio audience.

Polling suggests that Trump’s ceiling is below 50 percent. If he continues to remind voters of his grievances following the 2020 election and prosecutions, he will stay below 50 percent.

When Biden announced his decision, Trump took to social media to again call him the worst president ever. Wrong. The correct response is to say you respect the decision and look forward to taking on whoever the Democrats nominate.

Another Democrat talking point is that Republicans fear Harris. Fear? Please, she’s a cackle and a punchline. However, Biden had virtually no shot because there was no appetite, enthusiasm, or money. Harris has at least the latter two and a puncher’s chance.

The dynamics of this campaign are changing hourly. Trump must adapt to it. If his campaign didn’t see this coming over the past 24 days and didn’t prepare for it, they’ve committed political malpractice.

There’s no telling what surprises lie ahead over the next 100+ days. What’s certain is this is another fine mess we’re in.

  1. ” The correct response is to say you respect the decision and look forward to taking on whoever the Democrats nominate.” You should have taken your own advice when you airing your list of grievances. Nit everything is behind your fantasy conspiracy theories.

  2. Andy, have you checked out Trump’s social media lately? He’s a stark raving lunatic. He cannot control himself. He’s also the oldest Presidential nominee in U.S. history, and a convicted felon. Fate handed Kamala Harris a miracle. She would never be POTUS if she weren’t running against Trump. Say what you will about Kamala Harris, she’s the only sane one between the two of them. Republicans did this to themselves.

  3. Ah, Judas, you never fail to disappoint me. Grievances? Conspiracies? You’ll have to explain where I wrote either or where I got it wrong or than in your TDS infected mind.

What I wrote is that there was a cover up – demonstrably proven on June 27th that Joe Biden’s cognitive decline was well known by the media and all Democrats including Kamala Harris. Maybe you were shocked by his performance but nobody in Washington or the media who covered him closely was. That’s the coverup.

The coup. Twenty-four days of the people who were simultaneously saying they loved Joe Biden and he was the best president ever shoving him out the door (Brutus, Judas, and Benadict Arnold). They betrayed your Party and the American people. I’ll leave it to you to tell me whether it was because he couldn’t win (Democrats will throw anybody under the bus to keep power) or whether they actually felt that he lacked the mental acuity to hold the most important job in the world. Either way, they overthrew the president of the United States. Do you think they’ll leave him in power for the next six months or “pass the torch” to Kamala sooner? Just asking an insightful insider such as yourself.

The Coronation. This has already proved true as she has amassed the delegates necessary to win the nomination in 24 hours since Joe was Caesar-ed. No votes, no competitors, no democracy. And you dopes think that Trump fans are the cult. Sip some more Kool-Aid and bow down to the candidate who has yet to receive a primary vote for president. She’s an Illegitimate nominee.

And you don’t care. Because as long as the orange menace can be stopped, the means justify the ends.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves. You deserve to lose for what you have done to the democratic process. This is the biggest con game in the history of American politics.

The Democratic Party isn’t who I said they are – they are far worse and you have no leg to stand up.

    Now slink away.

  4. II made my feelings about Trump’s comments known. He didn’t lose any votes over what he posted, although he may not gain any either.

But right now, this isn’t about Trump. He’s true to form.

The Democratic Party has told us they will save democracy. They are going to do that by having a primary where nobody was allowed to compete with Joe Biden. Everybody else was excluded to the point where their names were kept off the ballot and primaries were cancelled. Meanwhile, they were covering up Biden’s infirmities for over four year and gaslighting anybody who dared point them out, including Democrats such as Dean Phillips. When Biden was exposed during the debate they took out their knives and stabbed him in the back.

You tell me was it because they knew they were going to lose power or because they thought he wasn’t up to the job – and if so why is he still in the job? Then they anointed Kamala Harris with no competition. But they want you to believe they are saving democracy. Sorry, it’s a con game – and this is what fascism looks like. Donald Trump’s prosecutions are by his political enemies – the same people who told you that Joe Biden was doing gymnastic routines while solving quantum physics problems for NASA simultaneously (just behind closed doors). They lied to you about Biden and they are lying to you about Trump. yes, his Tweets are inappropriate, and he has a big ego, but the most selfish person is Joe Biden who created this mess by not admitting that he couldn’t run for a second term two years ago.

I could go on but if you don’t see the con game being played then the media has fooled you and I won’t be able to convince you – and that’s the saddest statement.

  5. Oh Andy, you’re so cute when you try to claim that anyone who disagrees with you is suffering from TDS.

A coup, really? Biden is still President and you can’t have it both ways. You’ve been claiming that Biden is unfit to serve as President in 2024 and that he is being propped up by staff and family. Your wish came true. he is not running in 2024.

Your entire article was one giant conspiracy theory. A coverup, a coup, a coronation, and then there is this “Do you think they’ll leave him in power for the next six months or “pass the torch” to Kamala sooner?” I must be really getting under your skin since you have taken the time to personally respond to me, again.

You should have taken your own advice to Trump, “The correct response is to say you respect the decision and look forward to taking on whoever the Democrats nominate”. Instead you continue to let Biden rent space in your head.

  6. Andy
“where nobody was allowed to compete with Joe Biden. Everybody else was excluded to the point where their names were kept off the ballot” Do you have any actual examples of this?

“and this is what fascism looks like” No fascism is when you say you will be a dictator on day one, that you will suppress any protests against you, and when you state that Jews who do not vote Republican are disloyal. Fascism is when you state that you are going to Federal employees with loyalists.

  7. Andy I understand that you are struggling with the 5 stages of grief for Trump and his Presidential candidacy.

Denial – As you clearly stated, “The correct response is to say you respect the decision and look forward to taking on whoever the Democrats nominate”.

Anger – Your column was an attempt to lash out at Trump because he miscalculated the effect his attacks on Trump would have. Now you Trump is facing a candidate that younger than him, has more experience, has a wide appeal, and now makes Trump the oldest candidate to run for President.

Bargaining – Your responses to me are an attempt to persuade voters like me that Trump has the experience and the policies to be President again when he never had them the first time.

All you have to is make it through the depression stage until you accept who will be President.

  8. Andy is absolutely right. The people who lied to us about Biden’s mental state are now lying to us about how great Harris is.

  9. Andy, you’re staging a battle of wits with an unarmed propaganda parroting child. Pelosi threatened him with an article 25 caliber behind the ear, and he blinked. No democrat is voting for Harris; they are all voting against Trump. They could run a Lhasa Apso with an ear infection against Trump and they’d still vote for it. Harris represents the empty (pants)suit to carry out the shadow government agenda of the DC swamp: Barry Soetoro, Susan Rice, George Soros, and her handlers (who were Biden’s handlers since 90% of HER staff quit on her). It includes globalization, open borders, transfer of wealth, DEI (“Didn’t Earn It”), gender confusion, Antisemitism, Anti-Catholic, abortion on demand at any time, a preposterous country-weakening, unproven green agenda, uncontrolled enormous debt and inflation, crippling taxes, uncontrolled drug trafficking, weaponization of US Government departments on American citizens, judicially laxed crime fighting, unstable Middle East, Russia, North Korea and CHEYENA, and attacking the US Constitution. They’re already trying to neutralize the Supreme Court, and they have failed their attempt to eliminate their number 1 political opponent. All of this is being accepted and encouraged by dems because Trump puts out mean tweets and ‘threatens democracy’. Wake up you dolts. All of the above represents the democrat version of ‘democracy’ that Trump and Vance are threatening. Is that what you’re afraid of? Right now the Joker hyena is polling about 10 points behind Trump. That’s worse that Sleepy Joe was polling. That’s also too far NOT to be successfully challenged in court if there is a repeat of 2020 late hour mail-in dumps. The curtain is being pulled back on Harris and it won’t be pretty. All this lipstick will be smeared off. Trump will be ready. You can’t make a silk handbag from a sow’s ear, and I expect a replay of Hillary’s dumbots wailing crocodile tears and gnashing their teeth on election night.

  10. Andy: Judah’s masking his own personal crisis with his replies because he knows that Harris is their absolute worst choice to replace the absolute worst president ever in our history. Biden made Jimmy Carter look like Abe Lincoln. Harris is even farther left that Bernie Sanders, and even the least astute democrat knows that she won’t be acceptable to the undecideds. There’s no mystery or ‘conspiracy theory’ to what happened to Biden. The swamp (Pelosi, Schumer, Soetoro, Susan Rice, etc.etc.) told Joe to choose either a 25th amendment right behind the ear, or a grand going-away statesman celly complete with ice cream in sunny Rehoboth. The Swamp was stuck with Kamala because time was short, and if they tossed her aside, they’d lose the women and black vote. Actually, the black voters don’t even like her, given her DA antics in CA. And voters never had a choice in the matter of who their nominee would be. Now THATs democracy, right? They also thought that the Biden election dowry ($100 mil) would come right over to the Harris ticket, but the FEC chair said No Way – that’s against the law (but that never stopped them before – just get out the grease gun). And no matter how much lipstick they slather on her coronation, it will all be washed away as the curtain of her record will be pulled back and expose her as what she is: a radical leftist. Judah’s tired “dictator” farce, just like all the other tired context is pitiful and goes to feed the feeble voters, but maybe that’s what the plan is. Trump said ‘…for one day: to close the border and to drill, drill, drill.’ Look it up. And Judah knows it. Pitiful.

Actually, the black voters don’t even like her, given her DA strong-arm, targeted antics in CA. It doesn’t matter to democrats because they aren’t voting for Harris, they’re voting against Trump.

  12. https://apnews.com/article/puerto-rico-primaries-discrepancies-voting-problems-machines-8019db17829c7b1fbae5fb3fde623a4b
Yet another example of “a software issue that caused machines supplied by Dominion Voting Systems to incorrectly calculate vote totals.” Cue the nothing to see here and it did not effect the vote – even though the machine-reported vote counts were lower than the paper ones in some cases, and some machines reversed certain totals or reported zero votes for some candidates.
    Judah, You asked:
“where nobody was allowed to compete with Joe Biden. Everybody else was excluded to the point where their names were kept off the ballot” Do you have any actual examples of this?” STRAWMAN! You conveniently deleted the other part of what he wrote – and primaries were cancelled. Here is one example: the Florida Democratic Party cancelled its presidential primary election in 2024. This decision was made after the party submitted only President Joe Biden’s name as a candidate for the nomination, effectively ensuring his automatic win. The cancellation was confirmed by multiple sources, including news articles and party officials.
Primary races against incumbents have historically been the avenue through which bold young Democrats get a chance to challenge not just their party but a political process that erects too many barriers to new candidates and new ideas. Those barriers exist because the prospect of change unsettles party bureaucrats, who seek to maintain their own grip on power by writing rules that benefit them.
Don’t lose any sleep, Judah. If they can’t jail, kill, or stop Trump by any other means you can rest assured that the voting collection and tabulation process is rigged for the DemocRATs. Some people realized during Covid that the media is mostly propaganda to prop up the Deep State; and the Deep State has been hijacked by lunatics. And the lunatics’ war on children has alerted some people. After this election process more people will start to ask questions.
